Soothing My Anguished Soul...

Today, and especially tonight, I have taken comfort in reading through various chapters in the book of Psalms. I need them. I need the soothing words of our Lord, spoken through King David. Here are just some of the treasures, from the NLT, that I discovered:

“The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant.” Psalm 25:14

“I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul.” Psalm 31:7

The complete
32nd chapter!

“But the LORD watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine. We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hop is in you alone.” Psalm 33:18-22

“But let the godly rejoice. Let them be glad in God’s presence. Let them be filled with joy.” Psalm 68:3

“God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.” Psalm 68:6a

“Praise the Lord; praise God our saviour! For each day he carries us in his arms.” Psalm 68:19

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for coming to me in my time of need. Thank You for sending Your Word to sooth my anguished soul. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
