Jesus In It All...

Today my daughter marched in her second ANZAC Day parade. She plays the fife in a marching band at her school and thoroughly enjoys it. It gives her a sense of community, and has allowed us to get to know some lovely families from her school.

Today there was a wonderful sense of community when she marched. Not only has the school's marhing band grown since last year's march, but so has the number of people marching in the parade. It's wonderful to see, especially when you stop to think of the reason we march. It's to honour our service men and women who put, and have put, their lives on the line to protect our nation and other countries. It's to also honour those who have lost their lives and paid the ultimate price.

Today one of the Majors from a local Salvation Army church spoke at the service after the parade. He concentrated on bringing glory to the ultimate protector - Jesus Christ while also thanking the armed services of our country.

While honouring humans he also honoured He who came to earth as a human to save us.

It made me think how there are so many people in the world who don't know Jesus. It also made me think about how I go about showing Jesus to the people I encounter every day. I can improve. As can everyone who knows Jesus.

I'm reminded of Day 1 from The Purpose Driven Life, in that it's not about me. It's about me living out God's purpose for me; showing the Jesus in it all. This is something that I have the opportunity to do on a daily basis at my workplace, at the shopping centre, talking with my neighbours, hanging out with my family and friends; the majority of whom do not know Jesus.

I'm glad that I am not insulated in a Christian only bubble. I'm glad that I'm exposed to the world and who it is that God wants to save. No, it's not always a walk in the park; it's tough. Ultimately I have my daughter, family and friends whom I can influence for Jesus, but I'm thankful that God has placed me where I am in life to do what He has purposed for me.
