God the Gardener...

“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me." - John 15:1-4 NLT.

A friend recommended that I read John 15 and Psalm 91 and I'm glad I did. Psalm 91 is a favourite chapter of mine, and now John 15 is too!

God has been tending His garden that is me. I'm glad that He is a patient gardener, as this garden had a lot of weeds in it, was overgrown in many areas, had the wrong plants growing in it and just basically needed a good clean out!

I'm also glad that God is the type of gardener that never leaves His garden to tend itself, which is how my garden at home has to cope! He provides regular nourishment with His living water, sunshine in the form of His Son whom He sent to earth to free me from the weeds of sin, protection from invading pests and pruning and trimming to keep me tidy and neat - even though the pruning does hurt at times, and planting new seeds to keep my garden vibrant and fresh.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for tending this garden in the way that only You know how to. Thank You for helping me to grow into the garden that You envisage; lush, vibrant, colourful and fresh. In Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.

  1. This reminds me of the character of Sarayu (Holy Spirit) in the book 'The Shack'. Sarayu is the gardener of our lives in the story.

So glad He is such a patient and loving gardener. xo

  2. It really is amazing how He works.

  3. I feel like I am continually being pruned Paula! But I love when the new shoots start coming out! Blessings to you xx

  4. Amen Paula! Please LORD, make my garden lush. In Jesus' name, amen.
