Love Is...Exactly What I Need...

My latest Siesta Scripture Memory Team verse is this (or should I say, are these):

"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record ofwhen it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices wheneverthe truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)

No verse had jumped out at me, so when I read a post by Amy Bayliss at the Internet Cafe called
"When Your Child Doesn't Die" and these verses were written, I knew they were it. Amy writes that "Love is an action. In God’s Kingdom you don’t have to feel it to do it. You must do it to feel it. I had to act on love to feel the emotional bond of love." I needed to read this post, written by Amy quite a while back, as it reminded me of the importance of love in my life with my daughter. It also gave me a jolt because I, like Amy, "had to act on love to feel the emotional bond of love." It's only been just over a day since I read the post, but doing the action of love instead of thinking I needed to feel it has made a difference with Jasmine. It's been a rough four or more days for Jasmine and I, hence why I haven't posted anything and am now behind, once again, in my Yes to God Tuesday study. I am still reading, but just not getting around to posting all the time.

Another couple of blogs I read yesterday also helped pep me up. One was from Cindy at Consider It All Joy. Cindy writes that, "When I am unsure of the answers to lifes challenges then I must be seeking wisdom from the only one who knows the beginning from the end." Cindy also shares these two verses:

"If any of you lacks wisdom he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must BELIEVE (TRUST) and NOT doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." - James 1:5-6

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set your ablaze, says the Lord." -Isaiah 43:2

The other post was from Lisa Shaw at
Sharing Life with Lisa. Lisa shared these verses:

"Whom have I in heaven but You? And I have no delight or desire on earth besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever." - Psalm 73:25-26 (AMP)

Lisa also reminded us that "Regardless of what circumstances we may face the Word of the LORD is truth, comfort, wisdom, strength and a shield for our lives."

Please pop over and read all three posts, and I pray you are as blessed by them as I was.

  1. Paula, I like the Title of you post. It immediately drew me here! I will have to visit the other two ladies posts you recommended. I have a message I did on Love is an action word so I'm particularly looking forward to reading Amy's message. Love is far more than words.

Love is exactly what we need and we can all use constant "refresher courses" from the Word on how to walk in love. There are times when it seems SO EASY and times when it seems so hard -- depending on the circumstances and so reminders of how God views love and His expectation of us as his children is so critical.

For me it began with truly learning (not just in my head but in my heart) that THE LORD REALLY LOVED ME. That took YEARS although I grew up in church. It's a revelation that has literally saved my life.

Thank you for sharing my post from Sharing Life with Lisa but especially thank you for sharing your message this morning. It's the first blog I've read for today and it blessed me.

I pray all is well with you and your precious daughter. God bless.

  2. Love is what we all need. The sermon last week was on 1 John and about love. It was actually part of a Fireproof series. But I tried to apply it past marriage for me for NOW. God is love. Love is God. If we all need just love then we just need God. Amen!!

I love the scripture in James 1:5-6. I love all of James but I love how it says if we lack wisdom (who doesn't) then we should ask God who gives it.
    Love ya,
    P2

  3. Paula,
I will be praying for you and your little girl. Gosh, I know all too well the pain that comes with this. Just be encouraged that it is never too late and God heals beyond what you could ever hope for. Please email me at anytime. I'm excited to see what God will do next in your life!
