2My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. (James 1:2-3, King James Version)
The NIV version of these verses include the words trial and test. I am undergoing both at the moment. I am aware of the outcome of this current situation, but it just hasn't reached that point as yet. This is developing my perseverance, and building my faith in God that He will keep me through it all.
As much as I don't want to admit it, I am in pain and I am hurting. I don't know how long I will have to endure this but God does and I will leave my heart and soul in His hands.
It's Ok to be in pain and to be hurting. Because you know what? That's what Jesus felt when He was to face His biggest trial and test. He understands what you are feeling and going through. He will bring you through whatever He asks you to do. xoxo
ReplyDeletePaula, I will be praying for you as you go through your season of trials. I too am in the midst of a trial and it is hard when you don't know what the outcome will be. But I believe that's where we grow in faith. Our Lord knows the outcome and He has a purpose and a plan for us.
ReplyDeleteI was waiting in a resale bookstore yesterday. I had brought in my boxes of books to sell and I sat down and grabbed a book to glance through.
It "happened" to be an Elisabeth Elliott book and it was on the purpose of suffering. I wrote down something I read on the back of a piece of paper in my purse.
"Suffering creates the possibility of growth in holiness." And then I scribbled ...must be open to the training; what I am to learn.
It's interesting that my theme for this year is trust and obey. And my verse is Philippians 4:6-7. My desire has also been to grow in holiness.
Well the Lord is giving me my desire but not in a way I would prefer. Suffering and trials are not easy but they are the way to growth as we trust and obey.
Love,
Debbie
