The Lord Is My Portion...

This is an off the cuff blog, no studying verses, no thinking too deeply. Just a simple, quick blog to say thank you to my wonderful Lord and Saviour for His amazing ability to remind me that He is in control and looking after me, even when times get a bit tough to bear.

My Bible reading this week took me to Lamentations 3:19-27. Verse 24 stood out as it reminded me that "...The Lord is my portion" and that I am to wait for Him. Reading this made me think of the song, "His Eye Is On The Sparrow", from "Sister Act 2" and these words...

"Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart fell lonely
And long for heaven and home

When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is he
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches over me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me"

Why should I feel discouraged? I shouldn't! Why should the shadows come? They shouldn't! Why should my heart feel lonely? It shouldn't! And why shouldn't they? Because I am encouraged in the Lord, I live in the light and I am never alone!

Thank you, dear Lord, for a timely reminder that although my earthly existence gets a bit difficult at times, there is NO reason why I need feel discouraged, darkened by life or alone. YOU, the creator of all things good and wonderful, are with me 24/7. All I need do is call on you, and remember to...

"...sing because I'm happy
...sing because I'm free
